All About Capsaicinoids

All About Capsaicinoids

Capsaicinoids may be a secret, natural compound for health and fat loss. These compounds are classed as an alkaloid, commonly associated in capsicum fruit, chili and cayenne pepper. Despite these magical extracts being found naturally in foods, they have plenty of research supporting their use. They have been extensively investigated in fat loss and obesity research, along with supporting evidence in a health or clinical setting.

Research shows their benefits may include:

  • Blood Sugar Management (key for fat loss, physique and long-term health).
  • Direct Fat Loss
  • Obesity & Weight Management
  • Thermogenesis
  • Insulin Resistance
  • Cholesterol
  • Metabolic Health
  • Cardiovascular (Heart) Health,
  • Decreased Appetite

Capsaicinoids Can Get You Ripped

If you’re looking to lean out, then Capsaicinoids can help, via a variety of mechanisms such as decreased appetite, key for lowering energy balance or calorie intake – the number one factor in weight loss.

In contrast to helping reduce calorie intake they increase thermogenesis (heat expenditure) which will result in an increased calorie expenditure. Furthermore, it may shift your body composition and favor the bodybuilders’ physique you’re after by increasing your lean muscle mass to fat ratio!

Capsaicinoids are also commonly associated with a “fat burning effect” which has been highlighted in research. The main mechanism this may initiate is the activation of a receptor called TRVP1. This receptor is highly active, meaning it requires a large amount of energy and can be found in the vascular (veins) system, digestive tract, fat cells and liver.

Some studies also suggest that Capsaicinoids may reduce visceral fat, which is the most dangerous type of stored fat, linked to heart disease and premature death. As above, this can occur via activation of the TRVP1, which can reduce fat accumulation or further storage while simultaneously increasing fat burning.

One 8 week study compared two groups who were placed on a reduced calorie diet and exercise regime. Along with diet and exercise, one group consumed a Capsaicinoids supplement and found significantly superior results. These included:

  • 2% reduction in bodyfat levels
  • 8% reduction in total fat mass
  • 2% reduction in waist and hip circumference
  • 3.4% increase in lean muscle mass

Capsaicinoids Can Reduce Hunger And Appetite

As mentioned, the ability to reduce appetite, total food intake and therefore total daily energy / calories is the hidden gem for fat loss. Interestingly, Capsaicinoids may have a positive effect on food intake via increased sympathetic tone and norepinephrine release via activation of the TRPV1. Furthermore, Capsaicinoids may increase GLP-1 which is an important satiety hormone regulating food intake and hunger.

One study, interesting to the bodybuilder, combined a higher protein diet and Capsaicinoids and found a decrease in ghrelin (hunger hormone) and also a reduced average calorie intake at lunch by 74 calories. Although this may not seem significant, if this effect occurred at 3 meals per day a 200 calorie reduction can cause a significant effect on long-term weight loss.

Capsaicinoids May Increase Your Body’s Ability To Burn Fat

Another physique-enhancing benefit of Capsaicinoids is its effects on your metabolism and substrate (fuel: fat or carbohydrate) utilization. Capsaicinoids have been shown to increase lipolysis, the breakdown of stored fat from adipose tissue (bodyfat).

This benefit may occur via increased catecholamine, such as epinephrine and norepinephrine, two potent fat-burning and performance-enhancing hormones. When the levels of these hormones increase they activate the fat cells beta 2 receptor which activate increased fat burning.

One study, which directly tested Capsaicinoids, found a significant increase in the release of stored fat when combining Capsaicinoids with exercise. Other research has even shown it can shift fat utilization at rest or post-exercise by lowering RER, the fat to carb energy ratio.

Capsaicinoids Have A Proven Safety Record

As Capsaicinoids are a natural compound extracted from healthy foods such as bell peppers and chilli, it’s no surprise that they have a good safety record when compared to other “fat burners” on the market. Apart from being used worldwide as a staple household cooking ingredient, studies have confirmed the safety of Capsaicinoids in supplement form.

One review by Whiting et al. (2012) compared 20 clincal studies using doses between 1 mg/day all the way up to 135 mg/day and summarized their safety. Further, the average human dose is 10 – 50 mg/day, which sits in the lower range of this review.

Start Burning The Fat With Capsaicinoids & Cleanburn

Like with any supplement protocol you must first have in place a solid and consistent diet already. However, once you’ve nailed down the basics and are ready to take it to the next level a Capsaicinoids supplement such as CLEANBURN can enhance fat loss and, as you’ve seen in this article, it may even help promote or preserve lean muscle mass when dieting.

In summary, Capsaicinoids seem to be one of the most evidence-based, natural supplements for fat loss. Unlike most fat burners that just contain caffeine and other random, under dosed supplements, Capsaicinoids can help shred the fat via several mechanisms. If you’re really focusing on a fat loss phase, then why not have a go at combing CLEANBURN with PURCAF and 4weeks2shred.
